Japan's Chief Cabinet Secretary, Yukio Edano (member of the House of Representatives), expressed his expectation toward the role of the DIY industry in the recovery of the Japanese economy.
The support for the JAPAN DIY HOMECENTER SHOW 2011 is promoted

On May 19 (Thursday), the chairman of the executive committee of the JAPAN DIY HOMECENTER SHOW, Toshiyuki Inaba, members of the committee, and the Executive Director of the Japan DIY Industry Association, Toshio Imai, paid a courtesy call to the Chief Cabinet Secretary, Yukio Edano, at the Members' Office Building of the House of Representatives, and asked for the support for the JAPAN DIY HOMECENTER SHOW 2011 that is scheduled to be held for 3 days on August 25 (Thursday), 26 (Friday), and 27 (Saturday) this year at Makuhari Messe in Chiba prefecture.

Mr. Inaba informed Mr. Edano of how companies in the DIY industry are supporting the recovery efforts in the area damaged by the Great Eastern Japan Earthquake in terms of product supplies and employment ahead of other industries. On the other hand, Mr. Imai explained that home improvement centers in the disaster area resumed their business around 10 days after the earthquake.

Mr. Edano said, "We really appreciate companies in the DIY industry including home improvement centers for having resumed economic activities quickly. The DIY industry is one of industries that are expected to play an important role in the economic recovery. We hope that many exhibitors and visitors will participate in the JAPAN DIY HOMECENTER SHOW 2011 this summer."

At the end of the visit, Mr. Inaba asked the Chief Cabinet Secretary Edano to participate in the show's opening ceremony.
